Abbasiyyeh olive-croppers lock horns with UNIFIL

A brawl erupted on Saturday between Abbasiyyeh olive-croppers and Spanish peace-keepers serving with UNIFIL, but was soon contained by the LAF who escorted farmers into their respective groves.

UNIFIL demanded special permits allowing farmers to work their land.

Misunderstanding between villagers and the Spaniards triggered off the brawl. Intense contacts between army and UNIFIL succeeded in defusing tension with business resuming as usual in the frontline village.
