Judge Rizk orders death penalty for George al-Rif’s murderer, Tarek Yatim
Judge George Rizk issued Thursday the indictment in the case of George al-Rif’s murder, ordering the death penalty for Tarek Yatim on charges of murder, in accordance with article 549 of the Criminal Code.
 
According to the indictment, the judge also ordered a prison sentence of up to two years for Lina Haydar on charges of smuggling and lodging a fugitive, in accordance with article 222 of the Criminal Code.
 
Meanwhile, the attorney of George al-Rif’s family Ziad Bitar said that he will appeal the indictment issued against Lina Haydar’s sentence, stressing that she was a partner in crime and should be judged accordingly.
 
In mid-July, Lebanese citizen George al-Rif died of wounds he sustained in a road rage attack that occurred on the backdrop of a traffic incident between him and another driver, identified as Tarek Yatim.
 
The latter stabbed the victim repeatedly leaving him in a critical condition before passing away one day later.
