Caretaker Education Minister Hassan Diab issued a circular asking private an public schools to close tomorrow Friday due to the ongoing storm for the third day in a row.

In this context, head of the meteorological department of the Civil Aviation Authority Mark Whaybeh stressed on Thursday that “Alexa storm did not change its track,” noting that little rain is expected today.

Snow also fell on Thursday dawn on Wadi al-Hasbani area at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level after covering Chwayyah, Ain Kanya, Kfarhamam and Hasbayya heights overnight.

Turning to Baalbek and surrounding areas, snow fell overnight with high wind speed, forming ice layers while temperatures dropped below zero.

Most mountainous roads starting at an altitude of 1000 meters were only accessible for vehicles equipped with snow chains.

The heavy winds, rain and waves that hit the commercial port of Tyre and the fishermen yesterday night and today caused material damage to vehicles parked in the port and to fishing boats.

The storm stranded the fishing boats for the second day in a row paralyzing their activity.

Members of the municipality worked on opening the drainage canals to avoid losses in the nearby shops as waves were reported to have reached heights of 6 meters flooding a part of the commercial port of Tyre.
