Cabinet convenes at Baabda Palace under chairmanship of President Sleiman

The cabinet held on Tuesday an ordinary session at the Baabda Palace under the chairmanship of President Michel Sleiman, and in the presence of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.                         

During the session, the cabinet will discuss an agenda comprised of 46 items, as well as other urgent items.               

At the beginning of the session, President Sleiman stated that the dossier of the series of ranks and salaries is critical, stressing that the parliament should exert efforts in order to maintain the balance between expenditures and revenues.            

He also mentioned that some factions are accusing the Lebanese Armed Forces of taking a certain side; however, stressed that LAF soldiers are implementing the country’s political solution in order to maintain stability.

Prior to the session, closed talks were held between President Sleiman and PM Salam.

Meanwhile, Social Affairs Minister Rashid Derbass stated that he will be suggesting next week appointments pertaining to his ministry.

In turn, Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi stated that some appointments may be issued during today’s session.
