Public Health Minister Wael Abou Faour met on Tuesday with the Chairman of Board of Directors at the Rafik Hariri University Hospital, Wassim Wazzan, who had earlier submitted his resignation to the ministry. Following the meeting, Minister Abou Faour held a press conference in which he discussed the situation at the said hospital as well as the state’s failure in fulfilling its responsibilities. In this regard, Minister Abou Faour said the situation at the hospital may not remain the same, stressing that the hospital’s capability to absorb patients is declining. The Bir Hassan based state hospital has long been the scene of protests held by employees who continuously complain of lack of amenities at the health facility. They claim their protest come in line of "the administration’s failure to pay due salaries and the concerned authorities’ negligence toward the medical facility that is on the verge of collapse.”
