Frangieh: Al Qaeda is present in Lebanon, Sleiman and Mikati know it “is true”

El Marada Leader MP Sleiman Frangieh confirmed Al Qaeda’s presence in Lebanon on Monday, calling on Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn and LAF Chief Jean Kahwaji to reveal the relevant information.   

During a press conference, Frangieh said that the attacks on Ghosn are an oblique attack on military institutions in a bid to weaken their role.    

Frangieh called on the Army Command to reveal the contacts they possess in order to determine who is responsible for the infiltrations along the Lebanese-Syrian border. Frangieh voiced hope that the issue of terrorist infiltration under the pretext of seeking asylum be addressed under a media blackout.   

“President Michel Sleiman and PM Najib Mikati know that this information is true”, he added.    

Frangieh recalled that when he was interior minister he was subjected to the most severe smear campaigns saying that he was accused of killing former PM Rafik Hariri.     

“Some have interest in intimidating the Sunni sect in order to monopolize it”, he said, confirming his support for the Syrian regime.
