REPORT: Geagea expresses readiness to agree on presidential candidate from Bkerke

Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea stressed Thursday that running for president is among his natural rights, noting that he is open for discussions leading to an agreement over a “serious president.”

Following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai in Bkerke, Geagea said that he will support any candidate who holds all the necessary political qualifications, pointing out that his only condition is that this candidate be from March 14 camp.

In this context, Geagea confirmed that, by his candidacy, he does not seek confrontation with rival parties, noting that Patriarch Rai regretted that some parties breached the agreement reached in Bkerke.

On another note, the LF leader rejected the campaigns launched against the patriarch on the backdrop of the latter’s planned visit to the Holy Land, noting that the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was among the first to welcome the visit.
