REPORT: 5-year-old cancer patient finally admitted to hospital following civil intervention

Five-year-old cancer patient, Tala Jomaa was admitted on Tuesday to Tripoli’s Al-Nini hospital to undergo the treatment necessary for her condition at the expense of the Health Ministry.

Earlier citizens had gathered outside the hospital to protest the failure on the part of the administration to admit the patient.

Jomaa was granted access to treatment following the news of her ordeal and the movement initiated by concerned citizens.

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour reportedly intervened, calling the patient’s father and promising a thorough follow-up of her case and an investigation into what had occurred.

Similarly, the hospital administration also contacted Jomaa’s father, explaining that the mishap had been based on an unintentional misunderstanding.
