US acknowledges Iran gratitude over fishermen rescue
The United States on Saturday acknowledged Iran's government for welcoming the actions of American sailors who rescued 13 Iranian fishermen from pirates near the entrance to Gulf waters.        

“We note Iran's acknowledgment of the humanitarian nature of the US Navy's actions,” said Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for the National Security Council.         

“Our naval presence in and around the Gulf is intended to contribute to the safety and security of that part of the world and address a number of different missions, including counter-piracy”, he said.
