Aridi gives LBCI inside look on wage issue, discusses recent Achrafieh disaster

The Minister of Works Ghazi Aridi revealed that the wage adjustment issue was unanimously approved by the government, adding that the main argument was about transportation and education allowances.

Aridi told Nharkom Said on LBCI that the Change and Reform bloc approved the wage adjustment plan except the Minister of Labor as he was not the one who suggested it, adding that Nahas will eventually sign the new wage adjustment decree without sending it to Shura Council.

Aridi called on the required authorities to separate between the ongoing political “bazzar” and people’s everyday lives.

He added that amid the ongoing economic and social status quo in the country it is believed that the currently issued decree is the maximum that the economic bodies and unions are willing to provide to their employees.

Asked about Jal el-Dib Bridge, Aridi said, “this bridge should be removed as it is not safe, I sent a written request to the Development and Construction Council to tear down the bridge”.

Commenting on Achrafieh’s tragedy Aridi said, “it is important that the investigation committee complete its work seriously to reveal the causes behind the building collapse”
