Education Minister Elias Bou Saab declared Thursday that the United Nations and the donor organizations chose the Akkar town of Berqayel to establish a school dedicated for the children of Syrian refugees, noting that “his goal is to educate the largest possible number of Syrian students.”
In a press conference, Bou Saab pointed out that a committee was formed at the Education Ministry to set up a plan to oversee the efforts deployed in order to guarantee proper education for all the children in Lebanon, even Syrian refugees.
“We started transferring funds for all the public schools receiving Syrian students in order to cover the fees of their education,” he stated, stressing that he is keen on putting an end to the misuse of public funds, which has been going on for several years.
On another note, the minister announced that the Brevet official exams for the current academic year will kick off on the 5th of June, while the Secondary official exams will start on the 10th of June.
Concerning the vocational and technical education, Bou Saab said that the applied courses exams are set for the 11th of May, while the written tests will commence on the 22nd of June.
“The official exams will not be delayed, but will take place as scheduled,” he stressed.
