Al-Sharif to LBCI: Tripoli events temporary solution, will not end crisis

PM Najib Mikati’s advisor Khaldoun Al-Sharif confirmed on Monday that tensions between Bab al-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen date back to 1978.

“What happened in Tripoli does not put an end to the crisis, it is rather a temporary solution,” he said, adding that the real solution lies in adopting a self-distancing policy towards Syria.

Al-Sharif told Nharkom Said TV show that “85% of the Lebanese border is shared with Syria,” stressing that the Lebanese people are clearly divided over the Syrian crisis.

Mikati’s adviser added that the security issue is tied with political decisions, adding that the LAF role in the Tripoli clashes was “clear and excellent.”
