Jumblatt: Al Qaeda specter raises many unanswered questions

The Head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt said that Al Qaeda is yet again attempting to undermine the Syrian revolution and tarnish the image of the opposition and its legitimate demands such as freedom, democracy, diversity and change.

Jumblatt stressed that the appearance of Ayman al-Zawahiri in this particular timing is a security intelligence job par excellence.

The PSP leader said that raising the specter of Al Qaeda at this critical moment for the Syrian revolution raises many questions.

“It urges us to wonder whether proofs should be provided by the Syrian regime claiming that armed groups and Al Qaeda are involved in the fighting to justify the oppression”, Jumblatt said.

Jumblatt warned against this move, its purposes and aims, adding that vigilance is required on all levels.
