Lebanese army targets militants posts in Arsal’s outskirts
The state-run National News Agency reported on Sunday that the Lebanese army targeted militant posts in the outskirts of the border town of Arsal.

The agency added that the troops targeted militants’ posts with mortar shells and rocket-propelled grenades.

The army's efforts come to prevent the armed men from infiltrating into Lebanon, according to the agency.

On Saturday, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah claimed a major achievement in the battle against jihadists in the Syrian border region of Qalamoun.

The Qalamoun region straddles the Syria-Lebanon border and was a stronghold of rebel fighters until an operation carried out by Syrian regime troops and Hezbollah fighters took place last year.

While most of the region was re-controlled, opposition armed men and jihadists remain deployed in the region along the porous border.
