Sleiman counters Netanyahu’s inflammatory remarks on Lebanon

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman said that Lebanon is the only country to have dealt Israel a military defeat that still bears a moral effect upon the Zionist country.

Sleiman's words came on Thursday in a bid to counter Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's threats to strike Lebanon and claiming that the new world map would exclude a country called Lebanon.

"Lebanon existed thousands of years ago, rooted deep throughout history and Netanyahu's words bear no influence," said the President.

He explained that Lebanon's religious diversity completely differed from that of Israel which upholds a racist system.

Sleiman reminded that Lebanon was among the establishers of the United Nations and among the countries that founded the Human Rights Declaration.
