Former Finance Minister Jihad Azour told Nharkom Said TV shown on Sunday that the rule applied to expenditures in 2006 should also be applied in 2012.
Azour described the 8.9 trillion LBP law as a hybrid law, adding that discussions pertaining to it were political and the solution coming out of these discussions will also likely be political in nature in violation of legal and financial principles.
“Although the will to solve this problem exists, the mechanism used is flawed”, Azour said, “A committee of financial and constitutional experts should be established and put in charge of discussing this matter, rather than a parliamentary or ministerial one”.
