Protest to condemn Ambassador Ali’s visit to Mufti Qabbani

Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali stressed the necessity to continue controlling the Lebanese-Syrian border and to raise security awareness between the two countries.        

Following his meeting with Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour, Ali said that Lebanon and Syria must coordinate their efforts and complete each other.       

After the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali headed to Dar Al Fatwa where he met with Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Rashid Qabbani. Following the meeting, Ali said that the mufti shed the light on the fraternal relationship between Lebanon and Syria, and stressed the necessity to reject strife and maintain coexistence in each of the two countries.         

Afterwards, Ali congratulated the LAF for finding the terrorist cell, adding that those who are protesting in support of the Syrian regime exceed those who are protesting against it. He called on everyone to act with consciousness for Syria’s security must serve the interest of all brothers.      

The Syrian ambassador’s statements came after dozens of protestors gathered in front of the Grand Mufti Qabbani’s residence in Verdun.          

Waving the pre-Baathist Syrian flag, around 50 Dar el Fatwa protestors expressed their displeasure with a visit by Syrian ambassador to the residence of Mufti Qabbani.
