Tyre court collapses, lone employee rises from rubble

An employee in the civil court in Tyre named Khalil Najdi survived by miracle when the roof of a court room collapsed on Tuesday. The collapse damaged the infrastructure and the furniture without harming Najdi.

The two-story building has been occupied by Tyre’s criminal and civil court for more than 18 years. The building is privately owned and leased to the Justice Ministry.

Although the building was renovated a month ago, cracks were still visible on the inside and outside.

An atmosphere of panic prevailed at the collapse site as employees feared that the rooms they work in will be next.
