Future Bloc calls for impartial committee to probe massacres in Syria

The Future Bloc called upon the Arab League and the U.N. Security Council to issue an urgent decision to form an impartial Arab international committee, in order to "probe the cruel massacres committed by the Syrian regime against its people".       

The Bloc's fresh stance came Tuesday in the context of its regular meeting under the chairmanship of the bloc’s head, Fouad Siniora, at the Center House of Beirut. Attendees reviewed overall developments at the local and regional level.         

The Future Bloc urged the Lebanese government to take a serious decision to help Syrian citizens who are fleeing to Lebanon due to the crisis in their country, and to act instantly to halt the regime's assaults against Lebanese territories, like Wadi Khaled and Arsal.         

The Bloc blamed the regime for the terrible massacre in Homs two days ago, denouncing the repression and bloodshed in the country. "The Future Bloc urges the Lebanese to show peaceful solidarity with the Syrian people in face of the regime's cruel crimes that concur with Israel's brutal attack on besieged Gaza."       

Turning to the local maritime issue, the bloc said that the government's project of setting up a committee to manage the fuel sector, must abide by article 10 of law no. 131 (24/08/2010) that stipulated the necessity for such a committee to be totally independent in its performance.
