Contract teachers stage sit-in before Education Ministry

Secondary school contract teachers from across the Lebanese regions gathered on Monday outside the Ministry of Education to denounce the ministry's disregard towards the teachers' basic humanitarian and legal rights.

In this context, Hamza Mansour, head of the Central Committee of Secondary School Contract Teachers, called upon the concerned parties to reach a fair and comprehensive solution for this impasse in order to meet the instructors'’ demands.

For his part, Education Minister Elias Bou Saab called for granting the contract teachers transport allowance, which will be provided by school funds with retroactive effect starting from the beginning of the current academic year.

“All contract instructors, without exception, will be granted the right to participate in the supervision of official exams,” Minister Bou Saab added.
