Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai reiterated Wednesday “his call upon the political class in Lebanon to stop serving their personal interests and carry out the duties for which they were originally elected.”
In his holy sermon delivered during Epiphany Mass, Rai noted that the election of a new president is above all other considerations and political compromises,” urging the parties to quit hiding behind foreign powers and start making decisions without outside intervention.
On another note, Rai called on foreign leaders and the International Community to kick off serious work in order to put an end to the ongoing wars in Palestine, Iraq, Syria and Yemen, stressing the need to avoid a new war between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
