Clinton to allow U.S. military aid to Egypt to go ahead
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will use a waiver provided in U.S. law to allow military aid to Egypt to go ahead, Senator Patrick Leahy's office said on Thursday.

Leahy said in a statement that he was disappointed in the decision, which will allow U.S. military aid to Egypt to continue this year regardless of whether the Cairo government is supporting a transition to civilian rule.

Leahy said he hoped Clinton would still withold some of the funds "pending further progress in the transition to democracy" in Egypt.
