Mass held at the site of Myriam Achkar’s murder

A mass was held on the occasion of "Annunciation Day”, at the site of Myriam Achkar’s murder. Myriam was killed by a Syrian worker while she was heading to the church where he worked. A shrine and a garden were inaugurated to honor her memory.

28-year-old Myriam Achkar was found on 22-11-2011 covered with blood and thrown in a wooded area between Sahel Alma and Harissa. The criminal, Fathi Jaber al-Salatin, was arrested and confessed that when his attempt to rape Myriam was not successful, he beat her on the head with a sharp tool, slaughtered her, put her in a canvas bag and threw her over a small cliff.
