Fayez Karam will be released from prison soon

As-Safir daily reported that General Fayez Karam, who is convicted of collaborating with Israel, is preparing himself to be released from the military police detention center in al-Rihaniyya in a few days. Karam benefited from the draft law issued by the parliament last week reducing the sentence term to 9 months.

Therefore, Karam would have been incarcerated for less than 2 years in line with the sentence ordered by a military judge after he was arrested in August 2010.

According to the newspaper, the irony is not only limited to the fact that Karam benefited from the draft, but it also raises a few question marks regarding the way judges deal with influential spies.
