Sehnawi: Telecommunications achievements made Lebanon leap 12 years forward

At the inauguration of the 2012 ArabNet Digital Summit held to develop internet and mobile sectors in the Arab world, Minister of Telecommunications Nicolas Sehnawi, representing President Michel Sleiman, announced that preparations are ongoing to launch a bidding process to deliver fiber optics to buildings and houses.

Sehnawi stressed that achievements in the telecommunication sector made Lebanon leap 12 years forward by moving from second generation to third generation digital cellular systems and by moving from fixed line narrowband to fixed line broadband.

“This will launch a new array of services in many vital sectors by turning Lebanon into a regional platform to attract companies and export services”, he said.
