Last month, five Czechs who had been missing and presumed kidnapped in Lebanon for five months returned back home after the Prague government freed two Lebanese nationals who were wanted by the US on weapon and drug charges.
The disappearance of the five Czechs was connected by media in both countries and a security source with the detention since 2014 of Lebanese nationals Khaled Merebi and Ali Fayyad in the Czech Republic.
Upon his arrival in Beirut, Fayyad was detained by the Lebanese authorities after Hammoud had filed a request to Interpol to receive his case file.
After Fayyad's case file was referred to Saqr, the latter charged him with supporting a Colombian terrorist organization and selling arms and ammunition to the group.
Saqr then referred the suspect to Primary Military Investigative Judge Riad Abou Ghida.
