Ghassan Salameh declares via LBCI candidature for UNESCO General Secretariat
Former Minister Ghassan Salameh declared on Thursday his candidacy for the UNESCO General Secretariat, asking for the Lebanese government support in this regard.
 
Salameh’s comments were made during an interview with LBCI Kalam al-Nas talk show.
 
On another note, Salameh considered that fears about the establishment of a Kurdish state in Syria led to a recent rapprochement between Turkey and Iran.

“The Kurds are the only side that is seeking autonomy in Syria today,” Salameh added.
 
He also noted that there are clear differences between the stances of Syria and Russia over the current military and political situation in Syria.

Salameh stressed that Russia’s military withdrawal from Syria comes in order to enhance the political solutions in Syria.
