Reports on numbers of Lebanese deported from Gulf exaggerated- Lebanese Foreign Ministry
The Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sunday whereby it said that reports on numbers of Lebanese nationals being deported from Gulf countries are being exaggerated.
The ministry added that after following up on the number of Lebanese deportees from the Gulf over the last three months, it had discovered that there are only 74 cases of “expulsion, deportation, or non-renewal of residency” for different causes.
It also downplayed reports stating that thousands of Lebanese nationals will soon be deported from the Gulf region, due to the recent tension in diplomatic relations.
Fears have grown that almost 350,000 Lebanese nationals working and living in the Gulf region are threatened of being deported, as a result of a growing campaign by Gulf Arab states against the Hezbollah party, which it blacklisted last month.
