MP Khaled Daher said on Monday that he did not endorse Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun’s candidacy for the presidential elections, adding that he prefers to support Aoun’s candidacy over Marada leader MP Sleiman Frangieh’s candidacy.
“How could Mufti of Tripoli Sheikh Malek Chaar endorse Frangieh’s candidacy while Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai did not do so yet?,” Daher added.
Daher’s comments were made during an interview with LBCI Nharkom Said TV show whereby he said that the relationship with the Future Movement is “good, although we disagree over the political performance.”
Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum after the mandate of Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 without the election of a successor.
Deep disputes between rival political parties have thwarted the polls.
