Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Lawrence Silverman told LBCI in an exclusive interview that sanctions placed on Hezbollah do not target the people of Lebanon, nor its economy or institutions.
“This legislation is part of a long standing effort on our part to narrow and ultimately dismantle the financial networks of Hezbollah as a terrorist group, what it uses to fund its activities of course which we oppose,” he stated.
