Air traffic halted at Beirut airport due to fog
Air traffic at Beirut International Airport came to a standstill due to heavy fog over the tarmac and runway. Halted air traffic until 9:30 p.m. due to poor visibility forced a number of flights to be rerouted to Larnaka airport /Cyprus. Arrivals and departures were momentarily suspended for nearly half an hour.

It was earlier reported that thick cords of fog wrapped the city of Tyre and its northern and southern coast for the first time in ten years. The fog blocked vision almost completely and disrupted traffic as some cars parked on the sides of the roads to avoid being involved car accidents.

Some fishermen said that the fog that enveloped the city of Tyre proves that the region in on the verge of an extremely hot weather during the next few days. In addition to this, all coastal areas will witness an extreme rise in temperatures that will highly exceed their normal average.
