Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi and Economy Minister Alain Hakim withdrew from the meeting, seemingly since their objections on the waste management file were not taken into consideration.
Azzi clarified that his withdrawal from today’s meeting does not mean that he resigned from Cabinet.
Following the session, Information Minister Ramzi Jreij noted that more than one minister expressed their objection to the approval of the garbage items, wishing that this issue had taking more discussion time, “due to many holes found in the waste plan.”
Jreij pointed out that PM Salam hoped that the issue pertaining to the Janna dam project will be discussed during another session.
Prior to the session, Health Minister Wael Abou Faour said Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb’s decision to halt the entry of vegetable and fruit produce from Syria to Lebanon aims at protecting the country’s market.
