Wheat test samples conformed to specifications but one sample was carcinogenic

Ministries of Health, Economy and Agriculture announced Monday that the results of Beirut Port wheat tests showed that the wheat conformed to specifications, while only one sample did not match and contained a high percentage of carcinogenic Ochratoxin, which exceeded the legalized rate.


“The sample was within the previous samples Health Ministry said had a high percentage of the carcinogenic Ochratoxin exceeding the allowed limits,” they added.

 

on another note, the method used to test out the samples is said to be announced next week.

 
Health Minister Wael Abou Faour had previously announced that four out of seven samples of wheat tested by the Health Ministry at Beirut Port did not meet the health standards.

"Ochratoxin, is a substance which causes cancer and Alzheimer," Abou Faour had explained.
