Former Min Rizk to LBCI: Taef accord did not deprive the president of his powers

Former Minister Edmond Rizk said on Thursday that discussions over a new Taef accord or a new constitution are an heresy, calling on everyone to focus on implementing the current Taef accord and current constitution.

Rizk’s comments were made during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show whereby he noted that the Taef accord did not strip the president of the republic of his powers.

He also noted that the president is the symbol of the national unity and the protector of the Constitution, the state’s entity, independence and borders.
