Lebanese Ambassador to the US thanks Trump, welcomes ceasefire extension and calls for civilian protection

Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United States Nada Hamadeh Moawad thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for his commitment to supporting Lebanon and assisting efforts to strengthen security and stability.

Moawad welcomed the extension of the cessation of hostilities, brokered by the United States, for an additional three weeks starting Sunday, saying the step reflects a shared commitment to de-escalation and to creating conditions for meaningful negotiations.

She called for full respect of the ceasefire declaration, stressing that the protection of civilians—including journalists, humanitarian workers, as well as infrastructure and religious sites—remains a top priority.

The ambassador also reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to its internationally recognized borders, noting that the Lebanese state continues to take concrete measures to maintain security and reinforce stability.
