Social Affairs Minister Rashid Derbass stressed Monday that the Lebanese Armed Forces have an absolute power that allow him to operate without returning to the cabinet, noting that neither the army nor any of the security apparatuses have “their hands tied.”
In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Derbass said that the explosions that took place in the Bekaa town of al-Qaa should have been expected, pointing out that “the real menace is when the authorities try to ignore the possibility of any terrorist attacks and adopt the policy of denial, lamentation and complaining.”
On the issue of the Syrian refugees, the minister stated that the refugees must be contained under a clear ceiling approved by the government, reiterating that Lebanon does not have any land for sale, or any passports for sale or rent.
For his part, MP Ahmad Fatfat told LBCI that Lebanon is the primary target, stressing that terrorism does not distinguish between a region and another.
In this regard, Fatfat emphasized the need to control the refugee camps. “No weapons must be allowed other that the weapons of national unity,” he stated, adding that all the parties must support the Lebanese army and no other in order to preserve Lebanon, country and people.
