Baalbek businesses shut down in solidarity with shooting victims

Gunmen opened fire on Monday night at a vehicle in the Ras el Ain, Baalbek, killing two people.     

Mohammad Bakbouk, who died on the spot, was riding the vehicle along with his nephew, Gendarme Mohammad Akid Saleh, who was shot in the head and chest and was accordingly transferred to the hospital in critical condition where he died of his wounds.      

It was reported that a third person, Riyad al-Faytrouni, was injured in the incident and was transferred to the hospital for treatment.   

The NNA reported that preliminary investigations revealed the identity of the shooter, identified with the initials M.Sh, adding that the motives behind the shooting lie in previous disputes with the gendarme’s brother.     

At 1:15 a.m. of the same night, unknown individuals opened fire and dropped a B7 missile at the residence of M.Sh in the Saharawneh neighborhood.     

At 2:00 a.m., relatives of the two victims set fire to a building in al Toufayli neighborhood, Baalbek. The building was comprised of 4 apartments that belonged to the shooter’s brothers. No human damage has been reported.

In this context, the municipality of Baalbek, the Traders Association and other leading figures in the city convened following the incident, calling for shutting down stores and commercial enterprises in solidarity with the victims family.
