Cabinet convenes at Grand Serail, Mikati calls for fresh start
In the wake of the three-day long Parliamentary discussions and the fresh confidence vote which had been granted to the cabinet by the House of Parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Friday said this new start should set an incentive for more inter-cabinet coherence and exertion towards achieving required goals.

The Prime Minister's words came during today's cabinet session which kicked off at 4:30 pm at the Grand Serail, with 50 items on its agenda.

Yesterday, the Lebanese cabinet garnered 63 votes of confidence -- following a three-day long parliamentary session which had been devoted to discuss the cabinet's performance.

"Some interventions surpassed routines usually adopted by a responsible and constructive opposition, albeit, all the remarks and information which were brought up by MPs ought to be taken into consideration," Mikati said.

He also reminded of the importance of cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities.

"Do not get influenced by the criticism you received, even if it sometimes exceeded logical limits," Mikati told cabinet Ministers, stressing that their practical response should be translated by handling tasks more responsibly.

Fueling hopes for a better start, the PM also confirmed that the cabinet would be up to the MPs' trust.
