Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry condemned on Monday an attack that targeted an outdoor Kurdish wedding in the southeastern Turkish city of Gaziantep over the weekend, killing 54 people.
In a statement, the ministry stressed that the "terrorist attack was a clear indication on the lack of the slightest feelings of mercy and all humanitarian expressions by the culprits of this cowardly act."
It also emphasized “the need to exert and unite international efforts in a bid to stamp out the scourge of terrorism and put a limit to the mental, military and political spread of this monster.”
The ministry conveyed Lebanon's condolences to the Turkish government, people and the families of the victims, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Saturday's attack in the southeastern city of Gaziantep is the deadliest in Turkey this year. It was carried out by a suicide bomber aged between 12 and 14, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday, adding that initial evidence pointed to Islamic State.
