REPORT: Prime Minister Salam: We will continue to be guardians of this structure

Prime Minister Tammam Salam urged on Wednesday all Lebanese leaders to work together, warning that country is in the midst of a ravaging political crisis.

Salam’s comments were made during a ceremony for high school students at the Grand Serail.

He also stressed that he is not optimistic over the country’s current situation, noting that he will continue t assume all his responsibilities.

“We will continue to be guardians of this structure,” he added.

For his part, Minister of Education Elias Bou Saab called for a “real partnership” that does not eliminate any factions.

Salam's comments come one day after Free Patriotic Movement leader Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil said his party will boycott Thursday’s Cabinet session over objections to the extension of military chiefs’ mandates.
