Assiri: Two Saudis released after being kidnapped in Lebanon
Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Assiri announced on Wednesday that two Saudi nationals have been released today after they were kidnapped in Lebanon by a gang affiliated to an Arab state that he did not specify.

Assiri confirmed that a gang affiliated to an Arab state earlier kidnapped two Saudi nationals, Toufik and Abdullah al-Shakakik, through fraud, and drove them to an area bordering the city of Beirut.

Assiri added that both abductees were physically tortured for 8 days by the abductors who asked their relatives in the KSA for a high ransom in return for their release.

The ambassador revealed that he had coordinated with the Lebanese security services to chase after the abductors. Thanks to the Lebanese services’ “high competency”, the apartment where the kidnapped had been detained were located, as he said.

Assiri confirmed that two members of the gangs have been so far detained, pointing out ongoing investigations to arrest the rest of the gang as he urged the Saudi people to be wary of border regions during their stay in Lebanon.
