Instead of suffering each year from the same disaster, there are in fact several alternatives for apple farmers than just selling fresh apples for traders and foreign countries.
Among these substitutes is the establishment of factories to turn these fresh fruits into products such as apple cider vinegar, alcoholic beverages and different kinds of apple jam.
Minister of Agriculture Akram Chehayeb pointed out that the Lebanese state must support food industry, on which municipalities of different Lebanese regions are focusing as long term solutions, in order to avoid the recurrence of similar crises in the upcoming years.
