Sleiman praises interception of weapon-laden cargo ship

President Michel Sleiman praised the LAF’s interception of the weapon-laden Lutfallah cargo ship at Silaata seaport Friday evening, considering that this kind of operations helps maintaining civil peace and reflects the state’s decision not to turn Lebanon into a battle field for other or a conduit for revenge.

Sleiman stressed that the LAF and the security forces must stay on alert to ward off risks and to prevent any attempt to sow strife and turmoil, impacting the relations between the Lebanese state and his sister states, especially in light of the region’s current circumstances.

The President met with a delegation from the GLC led by Ghassan Ghosn who briefed him on proposals to settle fuel prices and the VAT. Ghosn kindly asked Sleiman to accelerate the implementation of the transportation plan and the activation of the socio-economic council.
