Hasbaya-Marjeyoun municipal members elected by acclamation

Efforts exerted by parties and families in the Hasbaya-Marjeyoun district bore the desired fruit as members of municipal councils of al-Dalafa, al-Khalwat and Ibl el-Saki were elected by acclamation.
In Ibl el-Saki, PSP leader MP Walid Jumblatt intervened to perpetuate a custom adopted since independence which grants the post of mayor to the Christian sect and the post of deputy mayor to the Druze sect.

In al-Khalawat, the efforts of the PSP and the Lebanese Democratic Party led to the election of the council’s members by acclamation.

As for the town of al-Dalafa, a municipal council saw the light, for the first time since independence, thanks to the mutual efforts of Hezbollah and Amal Movement.
