Introduction to the evening news 05-05-2012

In politics, electoral rhetoric prevailed while in sports the political congestion scratched what is even more dangerous than politics:   

MP Walid Jumblatt took a final electoral decision as he said, during a phone call addressing Lebanese expats in California, “although the party has decided to reach a settlement with the March 8 camp, the upcoming legislative elections will be held to preserve Lebanon’s [sovereignty].”     
In return, General Michel Aoun, on the seventh anniversary of his return from the exile, unfolded events since his return  from the exile and the “political blockades” that he is been subject to. He also dedicated a big share of his speech to speak out in details against Jumblatt saying “[you live to lie], go pave the sea.”     

As for sports-related congestion, the Riyadi club withdrew from the semifinal game versus Anibal in protest of a decision to bar the Riyadi audience from attending the game. Head of the Riyadi club said “I don’t accept that the Army Command impose on me things that are none of its concern”, wondering: “Is it simply because the son of the LAF commander has a rival club and has an interest in having the Riyadi out of the competition?”         

The son of the LAF commander counterattacked, explaining that he did not use his family influences in any sport activity or act at a time when sources close to the LAF commander reported that the decision to ban the audience from attending the game was not taken by the army, but rather by the minister of youth and sports.
