Israeli parliament approves new national unity government

Israel’s Knesset approved the national unity government on Wednesday. This came to light following the agreement that was signed between Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu and opposition leader and Kadima Chairman Shaul Mofaz.

71 Members of Knesset voted in favor of the deal while 23 opposed. The agreement grants Natanyahu the support of 94 out of 120 MK’s.

This is the largest governmental coalition in the history of Israel.

On Tuesday, Kadima Chairman Shaul Mofaz agreed that Kadima join the government in exchange for his appointment as a deputy prime minister, a minister without portfolio, and a cabinet member.
