Kortbawi heads maritime border conference at USJ

Minister of Justice Chakib Kortbawi representing President of the Lebanese Republic Michel Suleiman inaugurated a conference at Saint Joseph University (USJ) on Friday entitled “Demarcation of Maritime Borders and Exploitation of Deep Seas”, in cooperation with the Center of Law Studies of the Arab World.

The director of the Center of Law Studies of the Arab World, Professor Georges Khadij tackled the current situation mainly regarding the demarcation of Lebanon’s maritime borders and the exploitation of its deep seas.

As for Justice Minister Chakib Kortbawi, he said that international treaties that govern the sea need to be implemented and activated at the level of domestic laws. This is what Lebanon has begun doing.
