Hariri denounces Tripoli events, Mawlawi arrest
Former PM Saad Hariri denounced on Sunday the Tripoli events, adding that “the way Shadi Mawlawi was detained is unacceptable.”

Hariri confirmed that a solution to the issue should not go beyond the framework of state.

The former PM added in a statement that the apparatus that carried out the arrest should be held accountable, warning of engaging into the “game of arms” or plunging into chaos, which is tantamount to a crime committed against the city, as he said.

Hariri had earlier urged Tripoli’s citizens via Twitter to remain calm rather than yielding to provocation and to abide by the directives of the Mufit Shaar and political leaders.

Hariri pointed out an attempt to portray Tripoli as an outlaw city.
