REPORT: Order to close Costa Brava landfill appealed

The union of municipalities for Beirut's southern suburbs appealed an order to close the Coasta Brava landfill that takes the region's waste.

The union of municipalities filed its appeal before the Mount Lebanon appeals court in Baabda.

Last week, Baabda judge for urgent matters Hassan Hamdan ordered the Costa Brava landfill to be closed within four months.

This period was given to allow time to find an alternative and to prevent garbage from accumulating again in the city’s streets.
