Prime Minister Saad Hariri declared that the mission of the State Ministry for Women’s Affairs is to improve the situation of women, noting that the women’s quota is a precondition for the new electoral law.
During the launching of the structure and vision of the said ministry at the Grand Serail, Hariri pointed out that enabling Lebanese women and removing all obstacles standing in their way will benefit Lebanon as a whole.
For his part, State Minister for Women’s Affairs Jean Ogassapian announced the ministry’s roadmap, which preserves equal civil, social and political rights for men and women, enhancing women’s capabilities and eradicates poverty, unemployment and domestic violence.
Ogassapian added that the roadmap also stresses that the women’s quota must be for the seats at the parliament not for the candidates, noting that it also tackles the right to pass on their nationality to their children.
